Dynamics 365 Business Central: April 2019 Updates, part 2

Dynamics 365 Business Central: April 2019 Updates, part 2

Alright, more updates from the April update!

Two things.

There was a technical, sort of technical. The keyboard functions. As you're tabbing through fields and entering through fields you can now control them.

Enter can have a different function than tap, and it can be user defined.

I was in previous video, to try to figure that out and sort of fumbled around in it.

Now I got it and I wanted to show you guys how that works. I think that's pretty interesting.

The user can set it up, and personalize it for his page. So an awesome feature.

Also, we have the old zoom back. If you remember the NAV zoom, we have that now in Business Central.

So it's actually coming with a little bit more than the zoom used to do. You can see the table fields and the values etcetera.

I'm going to show you how that is as we're browsing through the April update.

Take a look.

Let's take a look at two interesting additions. So one of them is the difference between quick entry and just tabbing through.

If I tap here, and I was actually trying to do this in a previous video and I got confused, but now I’ve got it so…

Let's take a look at how that works. If I tab through here, I just go through the next one, and if I hit enter, I also go through the next one.

But if I go into here and personalize, I can, for example, pick this field, click here and say exclude from quick entry.

So I don't want it to stop here. Then just hit done. If I go up here. If I tab through, I go through. But if I enter through, I pass it.

So let's say, a very useful thing. Enter through, I pass. Tab through, I go through. So very nice.

Another interesting thing is that I can inspect the page. So if I wanted to see all the fields that are on this page and which page this is, I can hit Control + Alt + F1, which is inspecting the page.

It comes up with this sidebar here. It tells me this is sales order page number 42. Table is 36.

Okay, the old numbers are showing up here. Anybody that remembers having worked with that will be happy to see this.

I can then view the table, and here I can see all the table fields with the data.

I can see if there's any extensions. This is just a Microsoft extension and if there's any filters applied. So you can see the filters.

This is really useful. I can then inspect the entire page.

A couple of really great additions to this system. Again, from the April update.
